Support the Susan Torres
Fund
On May 7th, 2005, the day before Mothers' Day, Susan M.
(Rollins) Torres -- a 26-year-old vaccine researcher at NIH; mother of a
two-year-old son, Peter; graduate of the University of Dallas; and parishioner
at St. Rita's Catholic Church in Alexandria, Virginia collapsed. She was rushed

Susan was 17 weeks pregnant at the time and although the doctors have given her no hope of survival, they are fighting to keep her unborn daughter alive until at least July 18 when she will have a viable chance at life.
Her family is really starting to show signs of the strain this is causing; mentally, physically and financially. In an effort to escalate the awareness of their situation, and to help raise additional funds, friends of the Torres family have established The Susan M. Torres Fund to help defray the $1,500 a day ICU medical costs that insurance does not cover. Please help this family by sending a donation. Any amount is appreciated and it is tax deductible. Justice Sandra Day
O’Connor has announced her retirement from the
Although frequently portrayed in the main-stream media as a “moderate”, and despite having been nominated by prolife President Ronald Reagan in 1984, Justice O’Connor sided with the 6-3 majority in the Planned Parenthood v. Casey case which re-affirmed Roe v. Wade, and was the deciding swing vote in Stenberg v. Carhart which struck down the federal Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act. Unfortunately, many members of the US Senate, including NY Senators Chuck Schumer and Hillary Clinton have indicated that anyone unwilling to swear fealty to “Reproductive Rights” can expect ferocious opposition at Senate confirmation hearings and have called for another Justice just like O’Connor! We encourage everyone to make their feelings known about to Senators Schumer and Clinton by any and every means necessary in the hopes it will temper these extremist lawmakers to avoid an ugly and bruising spectacle.
Contact Senator Charles Schumer at 313 HART SENATE OFFICE BUILDING, WASHINGTON, DC 20510 or 202-224-6542; and for Senator Hillary Clinton: 476 RUSSELL SENATE OFFICE BUILDING, WASHINGTON, DC 20510 or 202-224-4451.

Contact Your Assembly Representative Now
On Tuesday, May 3, 2005 the New York State Assembly Health Committee voted in favor of releasing dangerous legislation (A.6300) that would promote human cloning for the purpose of conducting medical experiments on living human embryos. This means that the full Assembly can vote on this issue in the very near future. Please urge your Assembly representative to oppose this bill. Embryonic stem cell research depends on human cloning and is a radical assault on human life! Take action now.
